Post Graduate Development
AsCend is an exciting extension to our work and is a collaborative, contemporary arm to the company, providing first job opportunities to the cream of Arts University Bournemouth Graduate Acting Students.
For this season 2020/21, we are pleased to introduce Tish Mantripp who graduated with a first-class honours for Costume and Performance Design in 2019, specialising in Scenography at the Arts University Bournemouth. For our current production, ‘Mary Anning Lost in Time’, she has created a wonderfully innovative set design, evoking the style and period perfectly – yet with a modern twist
During her time at AUB she was set designer for: Helen Edmundson’s Mary Shelley; The RSC version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and scenic artist for three shows; designing and making many props too. She has recently completed an MA at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. AsOne wishes her well in her future career.
AsCend luminaries – from AUB since 2013, include:
Acting – Phoebe Sharman, Sorcha Martin, Emily Rowan, Ieuan Jeffcott, Jessica Chloe Young, John Hatziemmanuel, Maya Aitken, and Mainga Mayeya.
Design – Tish Mantripp, Sophie Fretwell and Sam Lovatt

Combining crafted storytelling with simple, inventive design, AsCend’s emphasis is quality, multi-media performance, and a strong connection to our audiences. AsCend was conceived as an adjunct to AsOne Theatre Company, to provide a stimulating work experience for recent theatre practitioner graduates; facilitating a worthwhile launch pad into our industry, whilst gaining new skills and working along-side experienced professional practitioners on all aspects of production, rehearsal and touring. AsCend aim to create fresh, inventive pieces of theatre using either existing text and/or new writing; seeking excellence in all aspects of production, design, devising, writing, composing, and performance. We are keen to equip each AsCend apprentice with an excellent reference, launching them into a fruitful performing arts career; whilst informing, engaging and entertaining a wide audience.
